Solid Waste
As of January 1st, 2022, Waste Pro USA is the Solid Waste Removal contractor for the Town of Malabar. For any questions about service, billing, or cart size, please call (321)- 837-0055, or go to their website by following the link Here.
Collection days for Malabar are Tuesday and Friday for garbage, Wednesday for recycling, and Monday for yard waste. Beginning on July 13th, recycling collection will take place on Thursday. July 13th will be the first day of Thursday collection, and July 5th will be the last Wednesday collection.
On February 1, 2021 Town Staff discussed with Town Council the second term renewal of contracted services for all residential & commercial solid waste collection services for the Town or Malabar with Waste Management, the three term contract totals 21 years, and each term consists of a 7 years period. The contract was awarded in 2014, with the first term expiring on September 30, 2021. Town Council voted to renewal for the second term at that meeting date.
Waste Management informed Council that a renewal of the contract would cause a "signifigant increase" to the cost paid by Malabar residents at the May 17, 2021 Council Meeting. Following Council discussion, on July 13, 2021, Town Staff published a Request for Proposal, RFP #2021-01, Residential & Commercial Franchise Agreement for Solid Waste, Recycling, Yard Waste, and Bulk Waste Collection Services, with a submission date of August 17, 2021. Three proposal submissions were recieved by the Town, Waste Pro of Florida Inc, Republic Services of Florida, and a statement of no response from Waste Management. Review the proposals below:

On August 31, 2021, the RFP Evaluation Committee met to discuss and rank the RFP proposals. After ranking the proposals based on their experience, qualifications, technical proposal, and contract exceptions, the Evaluation Committee members were shown the pricing forms for residential and commercial services of each proposal. Also reviewed at this meeting was the Waste Management MOU Rates and Changes taking effect 10/01/2021, which will cover the Town's waste services until the new provider can transition service.
